Martha Seely earned her MFA in Costume Design from Carnegie Mellon and began her design career as a costume designer and wardrobe stylist for theater, film and television.
Her understanding of clothing and fashion translates into jewelry designs that harmonize and enhance a woman’s style. Her jewelry design goal is to create Wearable Elegance for today’s woman. Abstract, elegant and refined with a bit of fun and movement, her jewelry speaks to the success of the wearer for her many varied roles in life.
Her work in jewelry and metal evolved through training begun in 2007. Martha has studied with master jewelers exploring and refining the techniques of fold forming, hammering, stone setting, wire weaving and cold connections. Since 2012 her work has been carried in galleries and at various retail events and venues. In 2016, she was chosen to be a Rising Star in the JCK Las Vegas Show.
Martha Seely Design’s most current fine jewelry collection is an interpretation of the forms and shapes found in the universe through the clean, minimal design sensibilities of my Scandinavian heritage. It is understated and contemporary yet elegant and hip. "I call it Wearable Elegance for today’s woman. Perfect for a busy day of appointments and the office, yet ready for an evening out".
"My jewelry is a reflection of the many art forms that have inspired me over the years: from fiber and fashion to the kinetic energy of objects in motion (and my passion for the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements).
My artistic vision has become focused on fashion accessories. I am captivated by the way jewelry conveys the distinct character of the wearer. The lure of designing and creating body adornments from precious metals, pearls and gemstones provides me with a constantly evolving palette, design challenges and ultimately beautiful rewards… distinctive jewelry collections".
