Inspired by the beauty that nature provides, Rachel re-interprets forms and patterns she finds through the lens of fine jewelry. Natural shapes, patterns and silhouettes combined with the strength and movement of precious metals and colorful gemstones allows her work to have a timeless sensibility with a modern perspective. Using the time-honored traditions of goldsmiths before her, she thoughtfully creates each piece with heirloom quality.
Her love of nature and passion for highlighting its beauty also drives her eco-friendly stance on how she sources her materials and fabricates her collection. Using ethically sourced, recycled or antique metal and gems allows her the ability to uphold environmentally friendly standards in both her studio space and the work she creates. She implements the use of green products in all processes from start to finish for every piece of jewelry fabricated in her studio.
Rachel was born and raised in the magnificent Rocky Mountains of Montana. She received her BFA in metalsmithing from Montana State University and her MFA in metalsmithing from SUNY New Paltz. She currently lives and works in the beautiful Hudson Valley region of New York.
