For years now, Marcia's design mantra and brand core has been summed up in two words: Elegantly Bold. It is her official hashtag, how she describes her signature aesthetic, the woman she designs for and how she wants to make her clients feel: feminine, but powerful.
As a child, one of designer Marcia Budet’s favorite hobbies was collecting different types of stones. She stored them in a little collector’s box. Today, that box still occupies a special space in her closet - and now, she knows why.
She designed her first piece of fine jewelry after receiving her Masters in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Design. It was a double ring and she designed it for herself. A colleague found it to be compelling and encouraged Marcia to make a submission to an international design competition based in Milan. She did, and a year later she was at the Gala in Lake Como receiving a Golden Award for it.
After winning the award, she identified it as a business opportunity, moved to NYC to pursue Brand Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology and started her own company. The following year, she received another award for her Sculptural Luxury Collection. She was selected as one of the top 30 emerging designers in the city to partake in the Design Entrepreneurs NYC Program. Marcia Budet was nominated for the 2014 Mort Abelson New Designer of the Year Award by Jewelers of America and has been selected as one of five 2015 JCK Rising Stars, where she became the first recipient of the JCK Design Center’s Editor’s Choice Award, presented by W Magazine’s Director ofJewelry and Accessories, Claudia Mata. Marcia’s pieces have also graced the pages of Elle Magazine and WWD, the runways of New York Fashion Week and the Red Carpet at the MetGala.
Marcia uses her architecturally inspired aesthetic to promote sophistication with an edge. She designs statement-making pieces for the not-so-shy, Elegantly Bold woman. Marcia encourages layering the carefully designed and beautifully crafted product that makes up her collections, allowing clients to create their own version of “Elegantly Bold” and build their personal repertoire over time.
Looking back, it should come as no surprise how different interests throughout her life, from childhood to adulthood - stones, design, branding, and business - have converged to the point where she is now.
